The first flight of the Airbus A380 took place on 27th April 2005. The first customer to take delivery of the airliner was Singapore Airlines, which introduced to its routes on 25th October 2007, flying from Singapore to Sydney.
This craft is the largest passenger airliner in the world, and has been nicknamed the Superjumbo. It is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine airliner manufactured by the European corporation, Airbus.
Composite materials make up 25% of the aircrafts airframe, the rest of the airframe is made from aluminium. The composite materials used are carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, glass-fibre reinforced plastic and quartz-fibre reinforced plastic are used extensively in wings and fuselage sections.
